OKAY YOU HAVE TO WATCH LAST MAN STANDING and we'll have a discussion after every episode! I love it, it's seriously so good. I love that we're able to get an insight into rural tribes and what they do for fun from the perspective of 6 city men who wouldn't normally have viewed violent sports as a form of leisure activity.
Over here, Britain's Got Talent was won by a car salesman called Paul Potts. Search for his first audition on youtube if you haven't see it already. I swear when he first came out on stage I thought "Okay this is going to be another painful audition". But he seriously made me cry.
Oh dear god what have I done to myself XD I don't know if I can take your nagging every week, but I shall try to tolerate it XD I think it's probably going to take me ages to learn that song, me and the guitar don't seem to go for some reason! I don't know anything about the bass, cept that bass guitarists are normally quite yummy X] I would love to learn to play the drums! How cool. My brother plays the drums. And a thousand other instruments seemingly, it's really annoyng.

Ah that's cool that it doesn't turn into a singing compitition over there. It's funny that I hate music shows so much but love music. I think it's cause I generally hate covers unless the band/singer is already well established and only does like...one cover. I hate a show based on people singing other peoples songs. ~_~;;
And I will watch the Last Man Standing show. I hope my house in Boise get's that channel. xD Otherwise I'll just download it. haha like everything else.
And don't worry too much about the nagging. I will actually probably nag once and then forget. XD cause that's what I am like. Haha, a total space case for remember things. My boyfriend is always like "remember you said..." and I'm like"...what?" And I agree with you on the yummy bass players. I don't know why but I think they always look so much sexier than guitarists, especially while playing. ESPECIALLY if they play with their fingers. xD I have no idea why that is though. Haha.

Granted he's 12 so he isn't fantastic...but he's surprisingly good for as small as her is. And it has got to the point that it actually sounds like a music beat...not random noise.

My brother plays the drums but in his band he's the guitarist. He's taught me the drums before and I've learnt a few beats, but I've forgotten them now. It sucks that I live away from home cos if I lived at home I'd be so accomplished at a few instruments now.
Your brother is going to be so good at the drums seeing as how he's starting young! That's so brilliant =) I love it when kids learn instruments.

No it wasn't totally a singing competition over here, we had some bartenders doing their bar tricks in the final I believe! But I don't really watch such reality programmes religiously. I'm with you in that watching a whole programme of people covering other people's songs isn't my thing. I find it really dull to be honest. So sometimes I watch if I have nothing better to do. But I can't ever be bothered who wins cos over here, the winners don't do well at all! Not like in the US when they all make it really big or so I've heard.
I really like it when a well-established band/singer covers someone else's songs. Maybe a few songs rather than a whole album of it. But only if they add their own twist to it, which they normally do, so that's great. Oh actually not if the group covering is a stupid boyband or girlband and all they do is pop it up. That really annoys me.

La Oreja de Van Gogh - Dulce Locura - Spanish
I can't really decide if this is the best example of Oreja's music. It's off their newest album, and it's good. One of my favourite songs by them. But it's not a song that says "I am La Oreja de Van Gogh" if you know what I mean.
Silly Fools - Pid tee wai jai - Thai
This has been one of my favourite songs for some time. I love the band, but now I am really sad because the lead singer left and they replaced him with some other guy and now they sing english emo music. It's very depressing to hear this song and then listen to the new mini-single.
S.H.E. - Zhong Guo Hua - Chinese
Right now I love this song. I also really like everything I have heard by S.H.E. They're really poppy and fun sounding. Plus something about chinese rap-pop is really nice. I think chinese was made for that type of lyrics. Or really rap in general. With such short words it sounds so much better than English rap-pop
Voo Voo - Sfora Zmor - Polish
This is kind of different. More mellow blues type music. I really love Voo Voo right now. They're extreamly cool. And this song always makes me sit back and close my eyes and just sway my head back and forth. And I really wanna know the words so I can sing along with it. haha.

Yeah America really get's into American Idol. It's dumb in my opinion. But actually not many winners go on to great careers. Mainly the ones who came second or third get a pretty stable career and the winners get a huge flashy thing and then disappear with the next season. Only one has made it big in the major music world, and one of the other winners is pretty big in the country music world. But that's not really my thing so I only know about her very vaguely.
Oh, I love foreign covers. Like one of my favourite bands, Going Under Ground, has a cover of The Kink's "Victoria". And it's really cool. I love it when bands make a cover but you can hear them in the song too. Where they make it their song and not just a copy cat. I don't know if you've heard it but I am a big fan of the hide Tribute Album. Most of the bands that cover his songs are pretty good.
Oh, it's available to download? Is it a torrent? If you tell me where I will start it downloading. (My roommate is gonna kill me, I have been taking all the bandwidth for like 2 days, hahaha)
And no, I actually don't watch much t.v. because it's usually on during the week days and I am out running errands or stuff. Plus I didn't actually have t.v. until just recently so I was only able to keep up with like 3 shows a week or I would get totally swampoed with backed up downloads that I never managed to get through... =/ But i am excited for House. if you watch that.

Oh I always thought American Idols go on to sell lots of records etc etc. Not that we get to see them over here, I think we only kind of know Kelly Clarkson, whom incidentally I dislike. They're all the same actually, all really shouty. I don't know why Simon and gang even bother, it's like season after season they just look for more clones of the previous winners.
I think I might have the hide tribute album somewhere, but I haven't actually gotten round to listening to it properly. Also, I'm not that familiar with hide's stuff in the first place so I think it'll probably be lost on me, just how good the covers are.
Yup it's a torrent, I only try to torrent if I can help it, they're so much more convenient. I think I got it either from mininova, or monova. Just google these two sites if you don't know them already.
I don't watch House although I've been told before that it's good. I think I watched one ep when it first aired over here and whilst I quite liked the writing of the whole thing, something really irked me. I think it's the guy's voice. So I had to stop watching.

And yeah...not American Idol winners don't really do much. or sell much. Kelly Clarkson is the only exception. I think Clay Aiken does stuff but I don't know what. xD I don't even know if he was the winner actually. Haha. I never watch that show, like at all. It's boring and dumb to me.
And yeah the hide Tribute album won't be too amazing if you don't like or know his music, or if you don't know the artisits singing to covers. At least probably not. The covers are good but only a few are really good so I suggest not expecting too much when you do get around to it.
Ah, yeah I know Mininova...do you know torrentz.com? It's like a database that keeps track of all the torrents or all the different sites and you can search and get like 7 different links to a bunch of different sites and a list of all the trackers. It's really good for downloading.
Ah, I love House. That's funny you couldn't watch it cause of his voice. Maybe you could hear how fake his accent was? I think he's british but he plays House with no accent...Or...I guess an American accent...or...something. xD

I finally managed to dl them and listen to them all.
What If You - it sounded a bit preachy to me at first, very Damien Rice-esque oh-so-emotional type preachiness. But his voice doesn't annoy me as much cos he doesn't whine, and I like it when the girl joins in in the background. Probably good to listen to when in a pensive mood, in the early hours of the morning.
Dulce Locura - this sounds really ethnic to me. She has a funny lispy voice. I love when she sings vi vi vay, whatever that means XD I quite like it despite it sounding like cheesy 80s music. I love music that's stuck in a time warp, it's pure class.
Pid Tee Wa Jai - hello... I'm a fan already, just from reading the title! X3 I love Thai songs! I love the Thai language! I miss Thailand :'( I love this one, I listen to it and it transports me back to the balcony of the shitty room I was staying in in Chiangmai, oh the memories.
Zhong Guo Hua - Okay I've known S.H.E. for some time. Which is probably why I don't like this at all because all I can see is that Ella's face acting like a right little brat at me :O That seriously wouldn't do.
Sfora Zmor - This one is taking some time registering itself in my brain X3 Sometimes I think of a Polish dude on a mountain top ala Heidi, dancing a little dance akin to the Irish jig, playing a little flute, but sometimes it stops being quaint! It's schizophrenic this song. In fact, I like it, it makes me laugh XD
Okie koke, don't be upset that I had odd views towards them all, as you know, I'm quite critical :(

The Thai music is really good. That whole album is pretty great, I can upload it for you if you want. I love Silly Fools to death and beyond. xD And the Polish song I really love. when I first heard it I was like...eh whatever. In fact every song by them that I hear I am like "Whatever not very good." but on second or thrid listen I almost fall for every single song. They're a very very good band but they seem to take a bit. Which I actually end up loving even more since those types seem to have way more staying power than any other band.
This is the type of eclectic music you will get whenever you ask for music rec's. Everything from all over the world and into about four billion different style types. So be wary of asking for rec's since I'll give you 5 very different styles any time I can. xD
