For a refreshing drink on a hot day:
Brew strong tea in a teapot, russian-style (that is to say,
the brew must be so strong
that only a fraction of it is used for a cup
and it has to be diluted with boiled water.)
Slice half a green apple into a hearty mug,
cover half of it with honey.
Pour hot brew over that, enough to cover the apples and
keeping in mind the desired strength of the tea.
Don't stir. Leave the mug in place.
Cover, and let it sit for a good ten minutes.
Boil water in a kettle in the meantime.
It is preferable to not think of other things during this time.
Once the apple and the brew have sufficiently negotiated
their different flavours through honey, but the apple
is still somewhat hard and crunchy,
pour boiled water in. It must still be hot. Stir.
Let it cool off just a bit.
Alternate between spooning the apple slices and eating them,
and drinking the tea. Add more honey or squirt lemon in
to taste.
