[He looks attentive as Karkat is giving him all of this information, but after he's done Wataru bites his lip a little, his expression hesitant.]

[He stops and looks down, his expression crumpling a little as he swallows.]

[He flushes and looks down.]

[Well, it sounds kind of silly when he says it out loud now, but oh well.]

He invited me to the carnival, once.

[He watches Karkat for a second, then deflates a bit, looking quiet and sad.]

[He looks back up at him in surprise, before his face melts into a shy smile.]

I'll feel better when everyone is back, but... I think I'll be fine, Vantas-san. Thank you.

I think... the way it is now is difficult. But with everyone back, at least there's hope of things being fixed. If that makes any sense?

[He rubs his face one-handed, looking exhausted.]
