I am going to attempt to update once a week (probably Thrusday or Friday) on my life because college will be too much work to put too much time into this. Especially considering I might that the Women Studies class...
So
:: started college Tues. Sept. 4, 2007
:: same dorm, different room, different side, by willows (nice view)
:: food not that great. Okay but I could make better food. Not complaining I'm still eating it. Besides I would have time instead of mass producing it for thousands of kids many of whom don't appreciate quality food anyway.
:: I'm not as panaoid around others. I do my thing. I go where I want (except the men bathroom). Nice.
:: garden I go to is lovely. Flowering.
:: Today the marching (?) band played outside my window so I went to the library to study (I LOVE the library! I LOVE history and books, etc). Before I left they started playing "Friend Like Me" from Aladdin.
::on my way to the library I saw a chocolate colored dog that went right up to me. You feel good about yourself when an animal appoaches you. You know you're nice/ not messed up.
:: I'm going to be me. Not worry about being social but focus on what I want (learning and graduating from college). I'll meet the people I'll get along with by being myself and doing what I like. Just don't be restrictive.
::on my way back from the library I heard a sound in a tree, looked around and saw a squirrel! Making the bizarrest sound. A hissing, squawking sound. A presumably professor going to his car said our campus squirrels were derranged...or demented. Forget which but it amused the heck out of me. :D
:: I'm going to try real hard to keep up with my work
:: before starting college rewatched Disney movies. (Aladdin, etc). Reevaluting them from an adult perspective. One such point: The Hunchback sure has some mature undertones in it. O.o
:: If I had a pet book I'd either have Waley's abridged translation of "Journey to the West" (the original would be too long) or a volume or just an abridgement of Gibbon's "History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire". I'd love to have a pet book. What pet book would you want? I'll bring this up again.
:: I do seem to have developed (or at least I am aware of) a strong preference for books, knowledge, libraries. I found the burning of the Library of Alexandria upsetting (tears in the eyes upsetting), and wrong. There is my tendency nowadays to talking baby talk to my “widdle bookies” mostly history. I don’t know why I do this other than ….? I don’t know but I talk to them with affection (this is made stranger by the fact their inanimate objects and therefore cannot respond back). So my whole history, book love thing is really becoming pronounced (to me anyway) at this stage in my life.
:: Also I wonder if anyone who, self-stated, “enjoys reading” really reads all kinds of books. Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast appears to have read mainly fantasy and fairy tales (tails!). I tend to get the most giddy and giggly about history book. Mmmm, interesting history books (but they’re all interesting, eh?)
All for now. Have a good week.
