40 weeks and a day

Yesterday was my "due date", but as I've mentioned before, first babies come on average at 41 weeks and a day. If our baby is typical, we've still got a week left. Still, it's pretty crazy knowing that the baby could come at any time. I was having frequent contractions last night and Geo and I thought maybe the baby was coming, but it doesn't seem that way today. In any case, I can feel it getting closer every day and have been rushing to get everything ready.

Bought a changing table off of craigslist. It was ugly, so I painted it red. Unfortunately, the no-VOC paint also looked pretty chintzy, but I dressed it up with Geo's baby quilt and it looks pretty cute. The terrapin mobile was made by Geo's sister Lise and the train coat hook thing is another relic of Geo's babyhood. The paper bags in the baby bed are full of supplies the midwives require us to acquire for the birth. Then you have to sort them into paper bags like so according to a list that they provide, so that they know where to find everything when the need it.

Yesterday I devoted myself to sewing throw pillow covers. I sewed for 9 hours and made 7 pillow covers. (Thanks for the map, JDW!)

We're ready for you, kid!
