Third Trimester

Shlepping around an extra 25 pounds is definitely heavy and cumbersome, but aside from those unavoidable pitfalls, I seem to be having a really mellow pregnancy. I really don't suffer most of the unpleasant symptoms many women experience in this stage.

Starting, more and more, to look forward to having the baby. I'm still enjoying being pregnant and having this time to get prepared in numerous ways, but I foresee that I'll really start to get impatient by the end. There are fun things coming up, which should help move the time along. Towards the end of the month, my host mother and sister from Japan are coming to visit, and I really want to show them a good time. Next month, hopefully*, we'll take birthing classes, and I look forward to sort of gearing up mentally for the birth. And Margot's planning to throw me a baby shower. Then in early October, Lisa's coming to visit. With any luck, Wakana may also come to visit at some point. In between those things, I want to take advantage of still being able to socialize with friends, go out with Geordie, etc.

I'm huge!

This is Laura, my midwife. She's awesome.

*It seems the class I registered for may have been canceled and I have to search for something else. I hope I can find something that's an alternative to the mainstream father-as-labor-coach Lamaze and Bradley classes that seem more geared towards hospital births, but something that doesn't feature too much woo-woo poetry reading and birth art, etc.
