Summary: Reiko and Inoo like each other. Yabu also likes Reiko. Yabu confesses to Reiko first and she decides to give him a chance. What would happen to Reiko and Inoo's relationship when Yabu is determined to make Reiko his?
“Reiko-chan!” Reiko turned around to find Yabu running to catch up with her. She waited until he caught his breath, “Onegai, please give me a chance with you”
“Eh?” Reiko had someone else in mind for a relationship and she was heading over to his house this very moment because he had something to tell her.
“I know you like Kei a lot more, but have you noticed how he never said anything to you?”
“Actually -“
“Reiko-chan, I love you. Can you give me a chance please?” Yabu had his hand on her shoulder and looked pleadingly into Reiko’s eyes, making her not able to do anything except agree that she’ll give him a chance.
“Jyaa, I’ll walk you home” Yabu offered cheerfully, but Reiko stopped.
“Yabu-kun. I’m going to Kei-chan’s house. Please go home” She held her purse with both hands in front of her, looking down at the ground, trying to avoid eye contact.
“Daijoubu kara, I’ll walk you there then” Reiko reluctantly started walking again with Yabu’s arm around her.
“Inoo happily went to open the door after hearing the doorbell ring, Yosh, I can confess to her now! He did a “fight-oh” before opening the door, ready to say that perfect line he practiced for a whole week. There, standing in front of him was the sight he was most afraid of.
“Kei-chan, gomen! I told him to go home, but he insisted on coming” Reiko tried to explain
“Weill I have to protect my girlfriend!” Yabu had to add.
Inoo stared at the couple. He stared for about ten seconds before coming back to his senses, “O-o-omedetou” he nodded his head and continued to stare
“What did you wanna tell me?”
“Ah, betsuni, I figured it out. Gomen ne, for making you come so far”
“Iiyo, jyaa, I’m gonna go okay?” With a nod from Inoo, Reiko left and purposefully dropped a piece of paper on the ground. Inoo saw it and was going to call her name when he noticed his name written on the piece of folded paper. He unfolded it and read, Kei-chan. Hontou ni gomen! Meet me tomorrow at the back door to the gym. Kou-chan won’t know that place. Love always, Reiko
The next day at school, Inoo was standing with his hands stuck in his pockets. It was so cold he could see his every breath. He leaned against the wall and stood up when he saw Reiko running to him. Her scarf was wrapped tightly around her neck and her every breath could be seen as well. She looked cold, so he took off his coat and wrapped it around her even though he was only left with a worn-out sweatshirt.
“Kei-chan…” Reiko looked up at Inoo, whose cheeks were turning red and numb from the cold, “Kei-chan, hontou ni gomen nasai!” Reiko bowed and refused to stand up even though Inoo was pulling her up.
“Let’s go to my house and talk about it there” Inoo smiled at Reiko, but she refused.
“Let’s stay here a little longer. Let’s wait until Yabu-kun is far from here” So the two went to a swing nearby. Reiko smilingly sat down on a bench and patted the empty space next to her, inviting Inoo to sit beside her, which he took. Reiko moved closer to him and rested her head on his shoulder “Let’s stay like this a little longer, okay Kei-chan?”
A pause, then Inoo said, “Un, iiyo. Demo you should get home before Kou-chan starts to worry”
Reiko looked up at Inoo and whispered, “Why is everything Yabu-kun? Can’t I be with you too?” She sat straight up and kissed Inoo lightly, “I love you, Kei-chan! Let’s forget about Yabu-kun for now and enjoy the present!”
“Reiko-chan?” Yabu looked at two figures on a bench in front of him. One of them was Kei for sure, but the girl can’t possibly be Reiko-chan…or could she? Reiko-chan’s mine! Kei wouldn’t do such a horrible thing!
Inoo suddenly saw a figure standing and staring at them. He suddenly stood up and jammed his hands back into his pockets. Reiko, alarmed by the sudden more, also looked forward. Then she looked down at her hands. Yabu walked towards the two and said, “C’mon Reiko-chan” offering her his hand. She took it and started to leave school grounds with Inoo staring behind them.
“Rei!” Inoo suddenly called, making Reiko stop, “Never mind, see you tomorrow at school ne!” He got no response except a glare from Yabu that says stay away from my girl!
Yabu took Reiko to a nightmarket that night, hoping she’ll forget about Inoo. He also got her a big teddy bear he wont to take home.
“Arigatou, Yabu-kun. Tonight was fun” Reiko was about to go inside when Yabu grabbed her arm.
“Reiko-chan, let’s go to karaoke at five tomorrow, okay?”
“Un”
“And call me Kouta”
“Wakarimashita, Kouta-kun” For now, she was determined not to betray Inoo and wait until he’s ready for her.
Reiko went into her house and Yabu looked at her house smilingly while thinking Yosh, she’ll forget about Kei and truly be mine in no time! before returning home.
