Another brief moment. F fixed my power supply over a week ago, but the internet connection isn't working now. He asked me to not work on it myself until he had time to finish backing everything up. He is really busy lately, so I don't know when that will happen, but I am not missing the internet as much as I thought I would

The kids and F were using Rosetta Stone before the laptop fizzed out on us in July or August. F hasn't had time to look at it and I hope my brother can when he visits in a couple of weeks. It is Shockwave based so it won't work on our main PC.
I listen to My Daily Phrase German every day on my media player. I love it and it really helped me prepare for...
Saturday classes at The German School. We are all enrolled in classes here. The adult classes use the Berlitz method and the kids classes are just standard immersion of material they would have in a German school.
I am trying to arrange for a 1:1 tutor for Ty as well, but I did not receive a response from my first e-mail to a local tutor and have been distracted since. I am pleased with how well everyone is doing, and although I am not studying my Saturday stuff during the week as much as I should, I am taking comprehensive notes and feel good about using them to catch up. The class setting also helps give me structure.
I am surprised by how quickly the kids are catching on, especially Em. F works with Ty during the week using vocabulary flash cards and Em has to leave the room because she is quick to answer for Ty. I think she will pick it up in a flash and she also has an extremely positive outlook about moving...Ty, not so much, but even so he is starting to perk up. The last two days he has had a 100% correct response to the first batch of flash cards, and some of the words were mouthfuls.

It sounds like you will have some sort of basis before you leave and that's when you will really start picking it up, assuming you spend time out in public.
Kids usually do pick up languages pretty quickly so I am not surprised Em is doing so well...I think females are also better at it from the younger ages (but they even out as they get older). N has done some Rosetta Stone for French a while back and also had some dvds from Canada that were dual language where he picked up some words when he was much younger. He's not too interested now even though we are supposed to be doing a foreign language for homeschool.
I hope when the time comes that Ty will handle the move pretty well. It's pretty rough moving overseas, even for adults. Our temporary move to Canada was difficult for both kids but especially for N (although he hates change more than most so...)
