Good news: We are fine, our families are fine, our neighborhood seems fine, we didn't lose power, and damage is minimal. Yay ( Read more... )

Excellent!

The rehab hospital where I am is running on generators, which, mysteriously, means no coffee. So far, that's the worst thing I know of.

Huh, maybe it they have some outlets designated non-essential and that's where the coffee makers are plugged in. Odd.

I wouldn't classify coffee makers as non-essential! ;)

Glad to hear you guys made it through all right. Some damage is worse than no damage, but if it's pretty minimal, then that's probably fine. Best of luck getting stuff back together... it's actually quite warm and sunny and pleasant here today now, after some rain in the morning. It doesn't feel right for almost November, but it definitely could be worse.

Wacky. Also, I think this is the first time I've seen that icon since I've read Deathnote, it's quite cute.

Yeah, L is rather adorable. I reread that series last year, and as you may expect, it doesn't hold up tremendously well to repeat readings, but I had more of an appreciation of the second half of the series the second time through, compared to the first time, perhaps because I was so dismayed at the big plot point halfway through the first time. This time, I could see what they were doing more. It's not realistic still, certainly, and it takes the spy vs. spy stuff to dubious extremes, but I could get it more. It was a very Shonen Jump thing they did there in the second half, I have to say.

I have found myself thinking about the series more after the drone in Washington Post on how the U.S. government decides who is included in our deathnote disposition matrix. That said, I'm content enough to have skipped the second half and spent time reading Fairy Tail instead.

As I said when I unexpectedly caught you in FFXI, glad to hear you're okay and the damage was minimal. Could of been worse; I'm still waiting to find out what happened to my Legion shell lead; his power went out for pretty much good before the second run last night. I hope he's okay...

There are still a lot of people out there without power. Hopefully he took precautions beforehand!

Found out from another one of the leads that said lead (Not naming the guy since you wouldn't know him) is okay and back in game.

I'll have to ask him about the damages Thursday b/c that's when I next see the guy. But I think it comes to show you that in a game like FFXI, it's a small world. ^^

Also it seems like the second really active admin on RPGamer (Strawberry Eggs) was on Long Island, she's without power but okay; she might not have power until tomorrow. She's currently at a frozen yogurt shop (I thought Red Mango was a coffee shop for a bit since that's where you can find free wifi in my area) recharging stuff like a laptop and cell phones.

Good to hear that you're all doing fine!

Bad to hear about the not-nonexistent damage but at least it doesn't sound too bad.
