Slightly belated BSG Season 4 post.
Oh, Battlestar Galactica. How I love you. How you love mindscrewing me.
So, I think we can sum up the end of the last pre-hiatus episode as thus:
All of Humanity (and some of Cylon...ity): Well, frak. What now?
I was not expecting Earth to be a post-apocalyptic wasteland. I actually wasn't entirely expecting them to get to Earth before the hiatus, but I'm glad they did. It's a much more satisfying breakpoint than just leaving them hanging in space.
And man, so many questions.
Who is the last Cylon? Where is the last Cylon? He or she isn't in the fleet, according to D'Anna. I suspect he/she is on Earth, probably sending out the signal to Starbuck's special Viper and also possibly broadcasting "All Along the Watchtower" to the rest of the Final Four. Speaking of whom, it's interesting that *they* react to it when the rest of the Cylons don't.
Although another interpretation of D'Anna's statement could be that the last Cylon was actually on the base ship with her at the time, but aside from Roslin, Baltar, and Helo, I don't remember that many other named characters on there. And we *know* that Helo's not a Cylon and it's pretty sure that Roslin and Baltar aren't.
What makes the Final Five so special? Adama knew Tigh for 30 years and notes that Tigh aged, but we're not really sure how much. The others appear to be barely in their 30's, if that. Do they age slowly? How many of each of them are there? I'm under the impression that there's only one of Tigh, Anders, Tyrol, and Tory, but I don't really have any facts to back it up. Just a gut feeling.
What is the deal with Hera and the opera house and the fact that she seems drawn to the Sixes? Is Nicky Tyrol special too? Is Caprica Six really pregnant by Tigh? Or is it Baltar? Head Six did mention to Baltar that "their child" would be born in a cell on Galactica. What cell is Caprica Six currently in?
Where are the Cavil/Doral/Simon Cylons? Will they risk fighting now that they know they can't resurrect?
What exactly happened to Starbuck on Earth? Where did her miraculous Viper come from? I'm perfectly willing to accept that it was some sort of miracle, but I'd like some confirmation.
Also, is Apollo Justice not the perfect nickname for Lee Adama? ^_~
Oh, and I think my favorite scene was where Tigh finally confessed the truth to Adama. I'd been waiting for it ever since the finale of Season 3, and it didn't disappoint. Poor Adama. That was what finally broke him. Thankfully he had Roslin. The two of them together makes me so happy, even if it may not last all that much longer. But Adama knows and he loves her and it's just so sweet and aww-inducing.
But dammit, early 2009.
