On games...

I should never do sudoku at night while my attention is divided. I inevitably make a mistake, don't realize I've done so until later, and end up having to erase the whole thing and start over. Then I'll find that I've made another mistake (or, on one occasion, the same mistake) and end up having to erase the whole thing and start over. Repeat until I either give up for the night or throw the book down in frustration and then give up for the night.

According to RPGamer, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix is going to be localized. I'm dubious, since we've never gotten a Final Mix/International Edition/etc. game before, but if it is true, then I'm potentially glad I've procrasinated playing KH2.

I'm not entirely sure what happened. I bought the game when it came out, got about five hours into it (to the point where you can start visiting the various worlds), and then I just stopped. I think part of it was because I never finished Chain of Memories and therefore I felt as though I should be understanding more of the beginning than I actually did.

Another part of it is that when I want to play a video game for a decent chunk of time, I tend to go for FFXI. I wouldn't say I'm addicted in the sense that I spend every hour of my free time playing it, but it is how I like to spend a good deal of my free time. A large part of it is that I'm a member of some very nice communities, so really, it's quite similar to when I used to spend most of my free time on IRC. (Except I get to play a game while I chat. ;p) And when there isn't anything I really want to do, and nothing's going on in the linkshells, I sign off.

On the other hand, I started the original KH back when it first came out and tended to play it in fits and starts (do a world, put it aside for a couple of months, do another world). I'll also have to see exactly what the Final Mix bonus content entails; it's not like I played every single bit of the original. I skipped a lot of the optional bosses, though I did originally intend to take them on.

Anyhow. I should really go through my game collection again and do another cull. And get back to FF12. It's funny; when I fought a boss and lost because of a poor strategy, that only encouraged me to refine my strategy and try again. When I fought a boss and lost because of a dumb mistake, that just frustrated me and I haven't wanted to go back.

Yeah. FF12 hasn't captivated me like previous FF games, either. I still don't think I've really got an understanding of the Gambit system. The only Gambits I actively use are attacking the leader's target. Playing FF3 has reminded me of what FF games used to be like, and I'm not really sure I *like* this whole interactive battle change. There's a lot to be said about a lack of random encounters, but being nearly forty hours into the game and not being sure if I really understand it also says quite a bit.

Also, I need to stop starting new games before I finish old ones. Not only is my backlog of unplayed games quite sizeable, but my backlog of unfinished games is starting to get up there.

ff12, video games, kingdom hearts, ffxi, ff3
