hmmm

It's interesting how far some people seem to take the whole 'referencing' photos while swearing up and down that they never trace or copy.
I came across someone on DA by the name of treijim today and became suspicious of heavy referencing/tracing/copying/pasting/altering or whatever it should be called when I looked at their early works compared to those later.

Specific examples starting from the earlier ones and progressing.

treijim.deviantart.com/gallery/#/dpm9ga This one they claim took over 15 hours to do (11-14-2006)

treijim.deviantart.com/gallery/#/duhdt1 This one seems like a flipped copy and color deal from the pic in the link she provided. (3-18-2007) posted 4 months later  with not much progress really.

treijim.deviantart.com/gallery/#/dvoy5o Then this! 'Many' hours of work (4-14-2007) Only the next month from the last?

treijim.deviantart.com/gallery/#/dx98et This only took 2 hours! Wow, she must be suddenly amazing to get so fast (5-21-2007)

Then she posts this tutorial on how she does it with a mouse. treijim.deviantart.com/gallery/128046#/d12y0j2 The hair is what is weird to me, you can't have strands that look like that without using the smudge tool (to my knowledge), yet there's no fuzzy edges?
And she starts by 'painting' all the shadows of the face and colors before laying out the eyes, mouth and nose. Kinda backwards if you ask me.

She swears up and down that she paints everything 100% by hand just by referencing, but things match up just too closely with her method in my opinion. She seems to go on about how everyone judges her and how she feels she has to defend herself too much. Well, she's suspicious enough so it doesn't surprise me.

I dunno. Weird stuff I guess.
