Woo! What a difference a day makes :)
Mom called to tell me they got a huge packet of stuff in the mail today from the VA. In that was the note that the adaptive vehicle grant was APPROVED!!! Monday I get to fax another paper for her to the local VA and their contact person their said if all goes well, they'll have the car either Friday or Saturday next week. Woo! It's an awesome SUV type vehicle, instead of a converted minivan. This was designed so the wheelchair sits in the front passenger seat. Dad loved it when they took their test drive in it.
Also in the packet...paperwork on their approval for increased compensation. Which is retroactive to the day they applied, which was September 1 of last year. They'll get a huge lump sum payment on July 1 with dad's next benefit check (almost what I make in a year!). It couldn't have come at a better time, as now they can afford to hire more help and also as Mom said, make sure they can get everything in their house they want.
