Birthday cupcakes!
Since I'm turning 22 today, I decided to make me some nice tasty cupcakes.
The ones with pink frosting are chocolate cupcakes with peppermint frosting, and the ones with brown frosting are lemon-orange cupcakes with mexican chocolate frosting.
I used this basic recipe from chockylit (sans the ice cream cones, of course), tweaked to suit my hankerings. (I don't know if there are better cupcake recipes out there, but this is my go-to tweakable recipe.) The chocolate ones are basically the recipe but with much more chocolate added, the citrus ones flavored with lemon and orange extracts and dried orange peel. The peppermint frosting is buttercream flavored with peppermint oil (my favorite kind of mint flavoring), and the mexican chocolate frosting is vanilla buttercream with ground Ibarra chocolate and a smidge of orange extract added to taste.
