A sunny Sunday evening with Lancashire and Kent

Apr 26, 2015 21:42

Today was the first day of the home season and, after an afternoon canvassing for Labour in Didsbury, one of my councillors very kindly gave me a lift to Old Trafford, where I arrived just before tea. Lancashire were 221 for four against Kent at the interval, and 317 for five at the close; the main event of the evening session was a century for Ashwell Prince, who now averages 118.40 in his six innings against Kent.

It was a lovely day, and they let the crowd walk around the pitch at tea.

Here's the spinner, Adam Riley, bowling to Ashwell Prince, our South African batsman.

And here's Ivan Thomas bowling to our young keeper, Alex Davies.

Prince reaches his century - his fourth against Kent.

The last ball of the day - Thomas to Davies, who had survived an appeal for a catch in the slips in the same over.

The groundstaff at work at the close of play.
