Today is the Didsbury Festival, and those taking part in the procession were told they could choose between celebrating the Diamond Jubilee or the Olympics.

Wonderful! I like the gorgonzola and burgundy, but shouldn't it really be Guinness in honour of Bloomsday? :)

I think Guinness features at some point - Barney Kiernan's in Cyclops, probably? But Mr Bloom definitely has a glass of burgundy and a gorgonzola sandwich at Davy Byrne's for lunch in Laestrygonians.

Ah, you've got me there. I just assumed Irish = Guinness, having never actually read Ulysses...

If I'd had a frock like that, I might well have done! I had to work with what was in my wardrobe; none of the hats was quite right, though I was pleased with the umbrella.
