A very happy birthday to legionseagle! As it happens, I will be spending much of the day in Scotland (trains willing), but I look forward to seeing you next week.
On what is clearly a completely separate issue, I was quite interested in David Aaronovitch's comments on the Bad Sex in Fiction Award. I'm not sure I'm convinced by his argument that ridiculing fictional sex is connected with a rise in sexually transmitted diseases, but I've sympathy for his other point, because I have occasionally noticed that people confuse bad writing about sex with writing about bad sex, which isn't supposed to be erotic.
