The Summer of 2008 officially began with the engagement to
daggerquill at the most fantastic restaurant in NYC:
The next weekend, we headed up to Keuka Lake for camping and wine tasting with the always-effulgent, D & A:
We went to 9 wineries overall, where we admired the scenery
gorged ourselves on bbq and dag's famous apple cobbler
bought a ton of good wine
and tried not to get too silly
.
As if the adventure to Keuka were not enough (ie.
), I decided that this was the year I'd finally introduce dag to the good old Jersey Shore, where he rode vomitous rides
, my brother-in-law won more psychotic animals for my sister, and I tried to run over my mother
. The cat, naturally, scorned such feeble efforts.
Then, it was off to MI to celebrate the birth of my soon to be father-in-law and our engagement with a sumptuous menu prepared by friend foodies Pam and Gerry
. This was the muse plate--I think I need one:
. We were, indeed amused--
. The next day, though, we were blown away by the powerboat races!
That's my Unlimited girl, Miss Geico, who showed some pride in her DYC sponsorship
and showed off her good looks in the after hours
.
August rung in with mi madre's birthday
. The cat was only somewhat enthused.
So, we rode off to check out the Seattle/Tacoma/Puyallup sunset
.
It was really the first time that dag and I got to hang out in weeks since I spent most of July and August writing.
But we poked around Tacoma on our first day
and visited Mt. Rainier on our last
.
In between, we hung out with friends in Seattle
who had all gathered to celebrate the wedding of the year
.
We dressed nicely
; they dressed nicely
,
but debauchery nevertheless ensued
Last, but not least was the annual trip to Longboat Key, where I run around in skivvies
,
dag touches weird things then wonders why he has hives
, and my sister and I plot world domination
.
Of course, we face serious competition in the inimitable LittleLilyLizzy and Gordo_phat, who have returned to the Chester , to gain strength for an attack of their own
.
