Invitation
When you open yourself up to the Goddess and her lessons, there are certain things you need to be aware of. Namely the fact that the lessons she teaches you are likely to be the ones you have yet to learn at this point in your life. They are likely to be things you have heard from people before. Things about yourself that you dismissed because the people who said them just didn't feel qualified enough to judge you.
It of course never occurred to you that these people weren't trying to judge. They were trying to help.
And of course the Goddess would be considered qualified to judge, but she doesn't. She isn't a condemner or one to pass edicts on your personality. And if uninvited she is not likely to interfere in the path your life is taking. But when you invite her in, when you open your heart to her and her help...
...she can kinda dump a load on you all at once.
You will hear what you do not want to hear. You will be forced to come face to face with your worst qualities and either come to terms with them or work to change them. You will be reminded of your inexperience and fallacies, and yet reminded what your strengths are. You will be pushed to a limit that makes you want to break. The question is will you?
If you do not, if you preserver and endure and even just claw your way out alive, then congratulations. You have passed the first test. But it doesn't end there. Her lessons are not easy, but entirely worth knowing. You must work for them. You must struggle and strive and at times the sheer aggravation of having to wait will be what gets to you the most. Knowing you are worthy, that you are talented, special, creative and smart and yet having to wait to prove it can be the MOST infuriating. But once you hit this point, you realize that it is not that you have gone unrecognized. No, indeed you would not have made it this far if She had not seen inside you what you are capable of.
You are now a chunk of raw iron ore, laying gray and misshapen in Her palm, dug from the earth itself. You have possibility, and it has been recognized and valuable. She will thrust you deep into the fire to melt you down and then beat you against the anvil to remove any impurities. Again and again until you are tempered and honed into a fine piece of workmanship. This is one of Her ways. Some may go down gentler paths and be nurtured in Her garden till they burst forth in glorious bloom of their achievement. Others may bask in Her light and reach up, seeking Her wisdom and knowledge.
But I am not afraid to be made into a sword. To those who know me well, they know the imagery suits me well. To be given a solid grip, a long reach, a quick edge and a good thrust is more than we can ask in life, and yet it is exactly what I sought out when I invited Her into my life.
