When I was in elementary school, I loved books. I couldn't get enough of them! I loved when the class would make its weekly trip to the library. There we could wander the aisles, carefully choose books, and sit down on bean bags and mats to read. Also, there was story time in the library! Heck yes ( Read more... )

My twin sister and I weren't allowed to watch TV after school (just on Sat. mornings), so I conjured up all sorts of projects, theatrical productions, and clubs when I was a little kid.

I grew up exactly the same way (TV). Saturday morning cartoons were about it, with the occasional rerun in the late afternoon on a rainy day. The point was that we didn't want to vegitate in front of a tv screen when we could be outside playing. I think I might belong to the last generation of Americans who grew up like all boys did until this point: our toys were mostly tools, we played in the woods, camped, fished, set things on fire, etc.

wow. you were so ambitious for eleven. you even had a treasurer! i think, though, if you were self-appointed, you can't really call yourself "president." maybe czar...

Hehe, yeah, Czar would have been a much more appropriate title than President! Or "Dear Leader" would have been good too! :o)

LOL! Our similarities amaze me sometimes. I had an STW (Save the Whales) club in the 3rd grade! After watching a video about the threats to whales, dolphins, and porpoises, I decided I was going to be a marine biologist, and I was going to make sure they were safe. We made posters and wrote letters and poems. Our club lasted an entire school year, even though at the end only two of us showed up for meetings. I wasn't as organized as you were, though. We didn't have officers. ;)

Haha! That is too funny! You had the STW club. Sounds like your club was a greater success than mine. Isn't it funny what kids think up? I bet your little ones may do something similar one day. ;o)
