Home at last
Hi, it's actually me posting this time instead of Mr. Bill. Just wanted to let everyone know that we were finally allowed to go home today. Bear is fine and healthy and shows no signs of problems due to being born early. He's small because of the preeclampsia, and we're keeping a watchful eye on him in case he develops jaundice, but he's a perfect little man and doing great.
I, on the other hand, got very sick after delivering him. Blood pressure stayed way up, platelet count went way down, and something happened with my liver that I never fully comprehended because I was whacked out on pain and exhaustion and the magnesium they were giving me to prevent seizures. I really, really hate magnesium, by the way. The pitocin was fine, the epidural was AWESOME on a cosmic scale, but the magnesium made me incredibly hot and nauseas and unable to think. So I basically got to enjoy my favorite pregnancy symptoms for 24 hours after delivering my kid. *thumbs up*
Anyway, they wouldn't let me leave yesterday as originally planned because I still wasn't healthy enough to be let out on my own recognizance. But today, I'd finally showed enough improvement that they let me leave, so I'm getting ready to go to sleep in my own bed for the first time since Sunday night.
Thank you to everyone who prayed or crossed their fingers for us this week, and thanks for leaving comments on Mr. Bill's posts. I got to read all your warm wishes and happy thoughts on his Blackberry while I waited for various things to happen in the hospital and it made me feel very loved. Praise God for all of you and for making sure that Bear and I are so well cared-for. *huggles friendslist forever* Pictures as soon as I can, promise.
