Happy Thing!

Today's happy thing is that Mr. Bill is bringing me home tons of awesome music from a box he happened upon at one of the library bookstores (today is the day he shops them for store inventory). Eagles! Stone Temple Pilots! Aerosmith! Yay!

Also, I am enjoying Lovecraft is Missing, but that seemed like kind of an odd choice for a Happy Thing all by ( Read more... )

Good grief. You're worse than Geo, organizing his movie collection by director.

Nothing wrong with that. *My* collection is alpha by director as well...

Um . . . no. Geo has "misplaced" his warm LL Bean cap with ear flaps, a hat we affectionately call his "Fudd flaps."

He Who May Steal Hats sounds like an excellent candidate for suspicion in The Mysterious Case of the Missing Fudd Flaps.

This reminds me of an anecdote I read. About 15 years back, some Englishman was on the radio ranting angrily because some club or something he belonged to had just engaged a librarian for the first time, which he contended they didn't need; they'd gotten along just fine without one for a century. When he paused for breath in his ranting, the interviewer asked mildly how he thought the books ought to be organized, the man roared, "Tallest on the left, shortest on the right!"

I've seen books ordered by color twice recently, once at a thrift store we were at and once on TV - Samantha Brown was doing her laundry somewhere in Europe and there was a coffee shop attached. The coffee shop had books that were organized by color.

Oh, I like organizing books by author because I always remember the author (almost always), but I have been severely tempted to organize by color and by height, because my books run the gamut from tiny old hardbacks (published decades ago) to mass-market paperbacks, huge shiny hardbacks with shiny pictures, and just about everything inbetween. So you have my sympathies. :)

i couldn't do that with my books. mainly because if have too many. mostly they're grouped alphabetically by author, in order of publication. (those that are not stored in boxes)
