It takes some work to make it work

1. I was going to say that I had a really lazy weekend because I got a lot of reading done and didn't wash my car as planned...but I did all the glue work on a complicated quilling project, I made pistachio pudding cookies and Guinness brownies, and I did clean a bunch, even if I didn't get to the car. So...actually a pretty productive weekend, I guess. Huh.

2. Spent all weekend singing "I Love the Whole World" (aka "the Boom-da-yada Song"). I kind of want to write version for all of my fandoms, or maybe just for fandom in general. Of course, "I Love the Whole Fandom" would be a lot more wry and involve less all-encompassing glee since...it's fandom. There are things about it that you can't love without hating yourself a little. I know, because I do. At any rate the Discovery channel version makes me happy, as does randomly bursting into a chorus of "BOOM de yada, BOOM de yada, BOOM de yada, BOOM de yada!"

3. Saw "Lady in the Water" this weekend. I really, really wanted to like it, but it fought me, and in the end it won. Meh. I love the concept, and there were moments when I thought the execution was going to hit its stride and suddenly work...but that never actually happened. *sigh*

4. I can't decide if I like Jethro Tull or not. I think my brain is confused as to which box it should put their music in, especially since I was expecting something more straight-up rock and got something with a lot more folk influence instead. The fiddle and flute and the Celtic influences definitely hit some of my oldest buttons, though. On the other hand, I can only just barely stand Jason Mraz, but I adore his song "Life is Wonderful." Go figure.

5. I have a million billion writing projects that I want to work on, beta edits that need to be plugged into two different fics, stuff that wants to be written, stuff that doesn't want to be written and thus must be beaten with deadlines, stuff stuff stuff!

6. The phone will NOT STOP RINGING today. Dude.

music, movies, writing
