Could someone please tell me that Gods and Generals eventually picks up and becomes less enmeshed in the emotional family issues and angst of various future generals after the first few chapters? Because seriously? If someone doesn't start at least talking about going to war soon, I'm giving up and read North & South. At least that's supposed to be all soapy with the drama (judging by the cover art, at least).
