Things wot I made on Saturday

Spiral earrings, made of 0.8mm silver-plated copper wire and a 6mm blue millefiori glass bead. I'm still getting the hang of this wire - I got it from eBay instead of where I get my other sizes of wire, and it's really soft. My other wire is much springier, but this dents out of shape easily using fingertips. So it's a bit tricky to make smooth curves with it. It also scratches incredibly easily. I like the earrings, though, even if they're a bit irregular.

This was an experiment in wire-wrapping and basket-weave. You can make really amazing-looking things if you can keep it looking tidy and consistent. This was me working out how to do it. I am really missing the use of the scanner or a better camera here - I want to show detail! You can't really see it, but it is wire-wrapped all down the right side and has sections where it wraps around both wires and sections where the left wire is bare. I made a squiggly bendy shape to have something to wrap round, and decided later it looks like a cartoon cat's tail. Something like this could be a pendant or a largish earring. 0.8mm wire wrapped in 0.315mm wire. It was rather tricky to stop my thin wire getting twists and kinks in the unwrapped part as I went along and thus breaking. I did some reading up on technique afterwards though, and I think I can stop it doing that now. I still have problems attaching new pieces of wire seamlessly though.

The design's not mine - I saw someone selling a tutorial for it (all silver) and wanted to see if I could work out how to do it myself. Uh, kinda? Photo is baaad. 0.8mm silver-plated wire, 0.6mm copper wire.

There's another one I was making last night - it isn't quite finished, should be done tonight.

(Damnit, scanner! These would scan really well!)
