I got back yesterday from two days of revelry in London, which was incredibly fun, although has severely damaged my bank balance. So much fun was had, though.
We managed to be proper London tourists, and visited all the important shopping places, like Hamleys, Covent Garden, Oxford Street, and Harrods. Hamleys is amazing. I could quite easily have spent all of my earnings for the next year in there, but luckily I was restrained by Hannah. Otherwise I would have turned up home with this teddy bear:
At which point we all collapsed from exhastion and had to go to the hostel for food and alcohol. Then the true revelry started, although it had to be even more delayed because the football was on and Chelsea was playing, and apparently that is important. So we abused 'Happy Hour' and then went on to as many bars as we could find.
In a bar called 'Fudge', which we went in purely because a hot French guy gave us vouchers for free shots.
Hannah, and Alice sporting the flashing rings that they bought that day in Covent Garden:
Of course, inevitably, as we are not hard core, and so did not stumble back to the hostel with the dawn, but did make a jolly good attempt, although we did end up back in our room with bags of Doritos, a big bottle of Lambrini, and a debate on how much the mortgage on Minis Tirith would be. Conclusion: bloody huge, especially after all the damage after the battle.
Wednesday was a cultural day, and we therefore went to St James' Park, the Science Museum, Hyde Park, and Buckingham Palace. I do love London. It is so pretty.
Yours truly demonstrating the wonders of science. Or rather, yours truly demonstrating that when you press your nose against a piece of glass, it is funny. We rather shamed ourselves at the science museum because everybody else playign on the games was about eight years younger than us. We spent ages tryig to figure out the answer to one puzzle, watched by a little girl who apparently had got the answer 'stright away'. Damn her.
Relaxing in Hyde Park:
And outside Buckingham Palace:
Of course, the highlight of the trip was (predictably) food-orientated, as we got sushi in Victoria Station. If any of you are ever there - go to Yo! Sushi. It is the most fun thing ever. I'd never had sushi before, but I am so going again.
And then we went home and gratefully went to bed, after not having slept much the night before because Certain People (i.e. Samuel) had come and sat on my bunk and tried poke things up my nose.
I had a job interview this morning, for a job working on the locks at the harbour. Things are not promising, I'm afraid, as there are eight hundred million applicants and one job. But I really, really, really want it. *sulks*
I promise I will stop procrastinating about the New York photos soon, and give you an account of that trip that is slightly more coherent than "Wow!" Soon.
