Yearn (31st May, 2010)
Inside the glass you hide your face,
Hoping that time won’t tell, that you
Won’t need to join the human race;
Truth burns in your eyes like firelight,
The past a hidden door, locked from
The inside. I can’t take more lies.
Put out the dark; it’s no surprise
If the angel dies on your watch,
The innocent expires; light your words:
A hundred tiny fires in your heart.
Where does it start? Haven’t you heard?
This sacred sin tears us apart…
The agony, the ecstasy,
the jealousy, all ends with me;
The lonely life, the sacrifice,
the endless strife, your heart, my knife;
Wash it away, the vodka burns;
Wash it away, the world still turns;
We live, we love, we hurt, we sleep,
we break, we tease, we burn, we weep…
we yearn, we yearn, we yearn, we yearn…
So write the truth, scribe, on the page,
Can you contain this boiling rage?
Lock out the light and breathe no air,
Smile as you die, life is not fair;
You stir our friends like hornets’ nests,
You set the rules, you run the tests,
I’m not impressed; you’ll break me yet
And I confess, I’ll sign my name,
You keep the score, in this sick game;
A tortured soul, a loaded dice:
You call it love, I call it life
And between us grows the divide…
