Okay, so I don't know what my stance on fracking is. But here are some things I DO know!

citrusjava linked a really cool fic readers' meme from Tumblr. I went ahead and answered the questions I actually have answers for. Please do feel free to answer the questions you want, either in the comments here, or in full on your own journal! I'm all ears~

When you read a good fic, do you go to the author’s page?Definitely, yes. XD I've probably LJ- ( Read more... )

i looooove your fic comments, because you really talk about what you liked and what moved you :-D

totally concur reading if you're writing (with the same caveats as you said). i think it's even more pertinent if you're hosting a challenge or something. OF COURSE it'll not be right that second! but...eventually? otherwise, why are you hosting it? for instance, wendy does an amazing job being involved in the writers of big bang. and kudos to all those mods who do that as well.

*squees with you*

That's good to hear! I try. I mean, having things I like and being moved I don't have to try at all about, LOL, but garbling that into words and remembering to actually do that/make the time to do that. Because it's like, I had this emotional reaction to this story! The author is probably wondering, on her end of the Internet, if anyone will. And if I don't say anything she's never going to knowwwww. And I know I'd want to know. XD

I do agree about challenges! Though I think I'm hit-or-miss on this in terms of my own ability to do so. Like, I definitely read all the summergens, and I try to read everything on the hoodie_time memes I host. But that ain't always in the cards, and I can respect that. Like Wendy, clearly, she can't read ALL the BBs because THAT WOULD BE PURE MADNESS. But she's also definitely around!! I don't know her very well at all, but even I can tell that. And that's awesome!

You always leave very thoughtful comments, which is something I try to do. I think that if the author has taken the time to write something, and I've taken the time to read it, it's nice to open up some form of dialogue/conversation, even if it is just "I really enjoyed this" and "thank you".

Sometimes your comments are so in depth I'm left wondering if it was actually my fic you read because I never saw that much in it myself...! It's always awesome when that happens. Makes me feel like I might have written something worthwhile. ♥

I try to leave a comment on everything I read through to the end, because a) the author deserves it, and b) I know how lovely it is to get a comment on my own stuff.

I re-read my own fics too - it's an interesting exercise to leave it a few days after posting then read it through again. I often find elements I like, don't like, wish I could improve. Hopefully that then feeds through into the next story...

Haha, definitely worthwhile, always, bb! <3 But yeah, I love when that happens for me, too. And I think that's what can be so beautifully dynamic about fandom (as it interacts with canon) and also/especially interaction amongst fans. *___*

This is a great meme, I'm definitely going to do it.

Your feelings on comments are my feelings on comments, though from the sounds of it I think you leave better ones than I do. I actually enjoy comment writing and letting people know what strong image/feeling/moment they left me with, it feels like a brief connection through fic and I always value it.

And agreed on people who specifically say that they don't read fic because they don't think there's anything good by anyone else. There's something deeply offputting about it - I adore writing fic, but I also love watching that creating process that other people do (also why I like reading writing meta type stuff).

Yes! I love that connection-through-fic idea/feeling. <33

And yeah, I have (probably unnecessarily) strong feelings about the "duty" to read (if "duty to read" can also mean "privilege to read"), if you're going to write. Because idk, we're in this together? In the same way that we're in this together with canon, the rest of fandom is also a Thing That Exists.

And man, it just takes a lot of douchebag balls to straight up come out and say that nothing in this WIDE, VAST, DENSELY POPULATED INTERNET suits your tastes, ahaha. Not looking hard enough! :\
