I love the way it gradually wends its way back from despair and devastation to the very beginning, that very first moment of the series. I love how it all went wrong because they weren't together through all this, *sigh* ... it's kind of the theme of the whole show in a nutshell. And yay, Sachiko and Manzanar and macadamia nuts! And a good, realistic amnesia Winchester story is obviously something I dig.
Also, beautifully, wonderfully written; I love a spare style. Great job, and I'm so glad you posted this!!

I remember being initially averse to the prompt because idek, there's so many ways to do amnesia wrong, you know? That's often why I don't like reading it (though I also don't have any idea what 'right' would be, except 'not fun.'). So I'm very happy this came across realistically to you.
Again, many thanks for reading, and for your wonderful commentary!

Today has been one of those "well, this day could end now and I'd be cool with it" kinds of days, so know I mean ESPECIALLY glad.
This makes me very happy!!

He doesn't need the tech. He can do this alone, as he always has.
(Always starts now.)
It’s both an intense expression of Dean’s character, and a beautiful analogy of the amnesia and timeline itself.
Of course I loved the tie-in back to the pilot, and the glimpse of Sam at the end. I hear ya on not being able to write a fic without Sam! I just did my first one recently (I am waaaay younger than you in fandom years!) and it was weird, but then it was good. And you’re really great at Dean’s mind-voice. Even having amnesia doesn’t change that a whit, and I really FELT him throughout this fic. Awesome work. :-)

I'm glad you like my inner Dean voice; that makes me really happy. And god, I know, right? Without Sam everything is just a trial and tribulation. I much prefer writing from his POV; somehow it's not as harrowing. That and I just really like Sam. XD
Thank you for reading!

And I can't help but wonder about Dean's reaction when he does remember Sam...and realizes what he missed and has to feel guilt over...
