ER visit

Jan 23, 2009 12:19

some time shortly after midnight, opening my eye (at all) became an intensely painful thing to do - it felt like my cornea was rolling up every time i blinked. it had been bothering me for a few days, but i had thought it was a bit of contact stuck in my eye that was being scratchy, and didn't think much of it. after this, though, it became necessary to go to the ER before i became tempted to scratch my own eye out.

so we drove to mt. auburn, and got to spend about 4 hrs. there being taken care of. apparently i have little rips in my cornea (probably from trying to get the "lost contact piece" out. we were really surprised that they were able to take us in right away (less than 15 min. wait) and that they were very good/thorough about treating me (though i did almost pass out after the doctor examined my eyes because - and i never knew this - pressing on your eyes can significantly lower your blood pressure temporarily and cause you to get faint/pass out) we would have been out of there much sooner if not for me having to lie down to get over that for a while.

i'm feeling a bit better today, but the eye still hurts.
