Why am I not a magic ballerina?

Netflix has once again not disappointed, as my mother and I watched Sleeping Beauty and the end of Princess Tutu in the past week.

Sleeping Beauty is beautiful. Mom hasn't seen it since she was three... I can't remember seeing it. We'd both forgotten that the fairies are the real main characters and that neither the prince nor Aurora do much of anything besides be crazy 16-year-old kids in love. Also, Maleficent is about the best Disney villain EVER. Sure, the Huns are a million times more scary than anything ever, but Maleficent made evil awesome.

(Remind me to do an entry about Being Blond in the 90's/00's sometime. It's one of my favorite rants.)

PRINCESS TUTU IS ABOUT THE COOLEST THING EVER!!!!! We finished it last night, and let me tell you. Watch that anime. Just do it.
I sat down and wrote fanfic for it this morning... but I understand why the fandom is severely lacking (as I believe Kate once told me). How do you IMPROVE on that? You leave it alone, that's how you improve on that.
(Uncomfortable summary of Princess Tutu: A group of students at a ballet acadmeny identify strongly with an old, unfinished novel and begin to enact it.

My dad's birthday is today... I kinda forgot until yesterday morning, so today I made a sponge cake and some coffee ice cream kinda last-minute. So I'm a little wired on coffee right now, but everything's good. We had a bike ride and dinner and an overall good time. So that's good.

My roomie gave me a call today, so I talked to her a little and was reminded that I'm long overdue on my Anime Boston update. Sounds like she's doing well.

Mom has a job for the summer... she's working for Habitat for Humanity, and she's enjoying it so far. It means I have to depend on my bratty little brother for rides to work (today I let him sleep in a little before waking him up... so not only was I late, but I recieved a bitchy text message from him about 20 minutes later that said "I didn't religiously memorize your schedule, and if you want to cry about that you can walk to work". We're not real close.) Anyway, I don't mind, because it's good she's got some work.

My dad and my little brother are going down to DC this weekend so dad can see some old friends. Jake's going to skate. I suppose I could have gone and spent the day at the museums... now that I'm 20 and all and can do this on my own... but I'm a wimp and don't want to wander around a city on my own, and it's not really worth it. Some other time... I do want to go through the museums without Dad following me around, being bored and worried about my brother, who's off somewhere else skating. *fun family vacation times of the past*
