The problem with Torchwood
I think I finally figured it out. I have tried to like the two most recent incarnations of Torchwood. Really I have. After all, it's Captain Jack. What's not to like, right?
After watching the first episode of Miracle Day last night it occurred to me that what I really missed was....Torchwood.
Arrogant, pain-in-the-ass Ownen Harper, sweet and smart Toshiko Sato, and the ever-present but under-rated Tea Boy, Ianto Jones. THAT is the Torchwood I loved. Without those characters it is just Gwen and Rhys bickering, along with the (admittedly) hot and incredibly sexy John Barrowman.
But I need more than just those two to make me love a show. Even a really good story only goes so far. I am hopeful that I can grow to love this new team as much as I did the others, but that remains to be seen. Cross your fingers, because I really DO want to love Torchwood again.
