Okay, I don't know what happened there, but I tried to post an answer to today's LJ writer's block here and it went a bit skewiff.
The question is what foods do you associate with romance or something like that.
I bet most people would say Strawberries and Chocolate, and I would have to agree that those are two sexy foods, especially when you combine the two! However, in my forthcoming Highball The Keeper, I use a peach in one of the early scenes in a symbolic way which I think is subtle, but also gets my point across well.
The scene follows.
Thomas was led out of the small room he had passed the night in and along a landing to a staircase. Alex took the stairs to the lower floor with Thomas at his heels. They crossed the entrance hall, the tiled floor cold beneath Thomas's bare feet.
Alex paused at a door and made an impatient gesture, waiting until Thomas had caught up before he opened the door.
Following close on Alex's heels, Thomas stepped into a small, informal dining room. A table stood in the centre of the room. Chambellan, dressed in buff colored breeches and a snow white shirt under a black waistcoat, sat at the head of the table. He glanced up as they entered and Alex bowed deeply.
"I have brought Thomas, Maître."
The keeper nodded an acknowledgement. "You may leave us, Alex." He waited until the youth had gone and then turned his gaze to Thomas.
"Good morning," he waved Thomas to a chair. "I hope you are feeling better."
"Thank you, Master Chambellan." Thomas affected a small bow. "I am grateful for your hospitality."
Chambellan smiled. "Sit…Eat." He took a peach from a dish on the table and focused his attention on it, running his fingers over the furry skin.

And later, in the same scene:
"You should think yourself fortunate that they decided to bring you to me instead. They know that I like to see some of the boys they take. Some of the more…well-looked ones." He smiled and something in his expression caused a frisson to run the length of Thomas's spine.
"Why?"
"Because, mon doux, that is the business I am in." Chambellan stood and moved to a window, speaking over his shoulder. "I take boys like you and…groom them. You will live a life of pampered pleasure here, Thomas, instead of a life of hardship and danger on the ocean. You are fortunate indeed."
Thomas swallowed hard and got to his feet. He felt a hollow sickness in the pit of his stomach. "Groom…groom them for what?"
"For pleasure." Chambellan came to him, touched his fingers to Thomas's cheek in exactly the same way he had caressed the peach earlier. "For love."
