Since I'm at work right now and I can't write about Friday's events yet, I'll write a quick entry about the ring. :)
I know the engagement ring is just a material object and it won't be with me in eternity, but... I can't take my eyes off of it. A blog entry about the ring sounds superficial... but I really love this piece of jewelry!
A. can tell you that I'm not really into jewelry. The only thing I ever wear is a sterling silver cross around my neck and I never thought much of diamonds until I received this ring. Now I know why women love diamonds.
The ring is gorgeous. It's not obnoxiously huge. Instead, it's the perfect size stone for my petite finger. The ring is comprised of a simple, round brilliant cut diamond resting in a platinum six-prong knife-edge setting. The diamond is set low in the basket and is held in place by prongs that are tapered ever so slightly over the top of the stone. It's as though the setting was made to subtly support the stone in the background, letting the diamond shine and sparkle to its full potential (kind of like our relationship, actually). The stone itself is breathtaking. It catches so much light that it sends sparkles and rainbows flecks everywhere! And when I'm in the sunlight, the diamond is so crystal clear that it looks almost blue, as though it's reflecting the color of the sky. If this ring is a symbol of our relationship, I wouldn't be able to find a better example.
I'm very grateful (and quite proud of A). He did well. :)
Ok, details about Friday night's events coming soon, I promise!
