I love this time of the year. I'm much more energetic, and generally happier. I was actually feeling creative enouigh to paint something last night! There's a tree forming on my bookcase. Michael came in and asked what I was painting, and I said Idk yet, we'll see when it's done ;p

This Saturday is Katie's Halloween party. Loads of fun. After her soccer game, of course. Last weekend was the County fair (where we got to sit on a huge Brahma bull named Stardust) which was great and had a Crone's village for ye old time fun. Katie loved it! Before that was pride fest, where Katie became a big rainbow kitty, networked with drag queens (her thrill in life) and announced she still hopes to have a hot Nubian princess of her own one day. More power to her :D

A little while ago, we adopted 2 Himalayan mix kittens, Marzipan and Magellan.  Over the week, Michael has been setting up for Katie's Halloween party. I took the kittens outside with us so they could play on the cat tree on the porch. Michael started up a very loud (skil?) saw. Marzipan jumped and hid against me, staring in terror at the saw. Magellan didn't move. This was the first clue. She appears to be deaf. If you snap your fingers in her ears, she turns only if she can see your fingers. I whistled as loudly as I could into her ears, she didn't react at all. Being white kittens, I would not have been surprised if both were deaf, but only Magellan seems to be. I've never owned a deaf animal, and oddly she is the loudest kitteh I have ever owned. She meows, loudly, for everything. But if she's hungry, rattling her bowl won't convince her there's food, her sister darts in, but she has to be shown. Either way, both of them are a delight.
