It's never truly appreciated how difficult it is to break out of a rut.

In a way, you're lucky.

If you were one of the "pretty people" you very well might spend the rest of your life undermining every accomplishment you achieved, writing off every one of your successes as being 'because of your looks'. And if you didn't, there would be plenty of people willing to do it for you.

If you were one of the "pretty people", your life, your career, and your self-confidence might be all come to an abrupt end when you hit thirty.

If you were one of the "pretty people", you might have never developed any of your strengths, because you never would have had to.

If you were one of the "pretty people", you might have spent years dating men who never even pretended to care who you actually were.

If you were one of the "pretty people", you might have spent years dating people as lazy and entitled as you could have been, and have to listen to yourself complain about the damage done as if you had lived through a kind of psychosexual Rwanda.

If you were one of the "pretty people", you might be living in L.A.

If you were one of the "pretty people", you could have herpes.

If you were one of the "pretty people", and you were living in L.A., you would definitely have herpes.

As far as I'm concerned, you were born with two arms, two legs, a brilliant mind and a kind soul in one of the easiest places for a Caucasian Woman to live in the history of mankind.

For the rest of it? There's Mac products. Beauty is cheap.
