So this weekend Matt and I went to the Humane Society to look at dogs. We went on Saturday and saw a few dogs that were good possibilities, one of which we liked a lot but had heartworm and we were a bit skeptical about getting a dog that was sick already and we knew it would be costly. We decided to think about it and come back on Sunday.
On Sunday we got there around 10:30 in the morning and looked around at the dogs that were there... a lot were the same as before, except one that was in his gated area and was in the very back. He looked kinda cute so we inquired about him and found out that he is a Whippet (in the Greyhound family) and very very shy and timid around people (we unsure as to why, maybe something happened with his previous owners). We were able to take him to a "getting aquatinted with your dog" area. He basically stayed on the other side the whole time but he did keep looking over at us. He would let us pet him too which was a good sign. After about a half hour we decided to take him home with us.
Here are some pictures of him
http://www.flickr.com/photos/care_e/sets/72157603930244248/ His name is Theo and he is 3yrs old. He is fixed, had all of his shots, healthy, and microchipped. He has already started getting used to us and will come up to us. We have to be careful with sudden movements or loud noises because they will scare him, but he is slowly getting better, and this is just the first day. I am sure he will warm up within the upcoming weeks.
That is the new news for now! G'night everyone!
