Fire drill!
So we had a fire today at work.
I'm just sitting there at the computer, typing away and wondering when people will stop being... let's say not so bright, so I can finally catch up on my email, when this fire alarm starts going nuts over my right shoulder. I about jumped out of my seat. The guy who sits next to me was very amused.
So we sort of looked around, shrugged, and continued working until the supervisor stood up and told us all to leave. I'm sure there were some baffled people online as we tapped out a quick "Sorry there is an emergency I have to step away" message and headed for the stairs.
The building has four floors, and we were all taking the stairs, so it was a bit of a bottleneck. Then we all milled around in the little garden break area out front for about twenty minutes, before the fire department people cleared the building. I still don't know what it was about. Probably someone burning microwave popcorn or something. But it did make for an interesting break.
Also, I am apparently not as nerdy as I thought.
I wonder what it says about me that I'm vaguely disappointed I wasn't nerdier.
