So, that job thing last week? The work-at-home insanely well paid thing? Yeah, not so much. Pretty sure that's a scam.
In hindsight, I really should have known. Anything that pays that well for no experience and working at home can't be for real. I noticed several things that pinged my scam detectors, like the company doesn't have a website, they're using Yahoo email and instant messenger to communicate, the phone number on the employment ad doesn't work, and is different than the phone number on the email (which has too many digits to be a U.S. number). I sent them an email asking about these issues, and have so far gotten no reply. They requested I open a Wells Fargo bank account (which requires a $100 deposit) and then send them the account information. Obviously, I won't be doing that.
It was probably silly to be taken in as much as I was, when I think about it. Phrases in the interview like: "We posted our job add as a result of trying to get an online account staff/receptionist" and "A letter of confirmation will be sent to you indicating that you have been approved by all the members of the board of directors that takes decisive decisions in the company."
Ah well. I'm not too bothered by this, mostly because I got an actual, real job today, working in an actual, real office with other real people. Yay! It's with an online brokerage company, which is good because it's financial job experience for me, what I want to be doing, and it pays better than I was expecting to start out with. Not as much as the scam job promised to pay, but it has the benefit of not being, you know, fake.
I start on Monday. Wish me luck. *g*
