So, that new CSI...

I'm a bad fangirl.

I didn't even know the new season of CSI was starting last night until hubby called in the afternoon and said hey, new CSI, make sure to cue the DVR. So I did, and we got around to watching it eventually, and... yeah. Not quite sure what to make of this one.

Okay, the thing with Gil and Sara? Is almost cute. I mean, I'm not a big shipper, and I'd rather see him flirt with Nick any day, but if they have to have a canon ship, this is how to do it. Subtle, not interfering with the plot, not overdone. Just clever little hints here and there, easy enough to ignore if you want to. I like how he brought her a veggie burger because it's a nice nod to that early episode where he didn't know she was a vegetarian and she got offended at how little he paid attention or remembered about her. Now, he's paying attention. Continuity! Subtlety! This is how it should work. Not random sudden overwrought moony eyes of death at inopportune moments. (I'm looking at you, Jack/Sam.)

Now, the Nick/Catherine thing is also kinda cute, although you can just see Catherine toying with the idea and then discarding it, with a little mental shake like Girl, what are you thinking? And then, the deal with Catherine in the bar and the drugged drink... okay, the first thing I thought? More trauma for Nicky. Guilt this time, for leaving her there. Catherine, of course, has probably processed hundreds of cases just like that, but it's different being on the other side of it. Watching her preserve the evidence, I have to wonder if any of that will stand up in court. Shouldn't she have gone to the hospital? It was sort of a compromise between what her training told her to do and what she needed to do personally.

I have to wonder if she's actually going to tell anyone. Something about being the person who normally catches criminals, to be victimized by one, it's got to be hard. On top of the obvious other reasons why it's hard.

Then, of course, the previews where apparently Catherine is in line for yet more whumping. What about Greg? He hasn't been whumped since that lab explosion and I'd love to see his whipped puppy look again. Oh, and Brass, I wanted to squeeze him. That scene with him and Warrick was just perfect, the look on Warrick's face when he got it, when Brass put that medal away.

The tiny crime scene was cool, though. That one belongs to Grissom. It's so him.

I am certain there is some kind of discipline to be meted out by the f-list for bad fangirlness. I promise not to struggle too much.

reviews, csi
