the ratings game

I've noticed that a couple of people on my friends list are worried about the ratings for SG-1, SGA and BSG. I don't know much about the ratings norm for BSG but for those worried Stargate fans I suggest you check out the ratinsg for S8 of SG-1 and S1 for SGA. For SG-1 they fluctuated from 1.7- 2.4 in general while SGA fluctuated from 1.7-2.5 excluding the heavily hyped premiere. When both shows starting showing up on Friday nights in January 2005, the norm was always 0.2+/- from 2.0 generally and more likely than not by the time both shows were in the second part of their season they rarely if ever dipped below 2.0. Another huge misconception is that shows steadily increase in ratings every year which is not true. The second season is where many shows slightly drop off and this can be due to switching to a low rating timeslot which occurs during the second season of most shows.

SGA S1 from 1-10: 2.4, 2.4, 2.0, 2.2, 2.2, 1.8, 1.8, 2.1, 1.7, 1.8
11-20 2.0, 2.1, 2.1, 2.0, 1.7, 2.1, 2.1, 2.1, 2.3, 2.4

SG1 S8 from 1-10: 3.2, 3.2, 2.5, 2.5, 2.2, 1.9, 1.8, 1.9, 1.7, 1.9
11-20 2.1, 2.4, 2.2, 2.2, 2.3, 2.3, 2.2, 2.2, 2.5, 2.2

So anyway, that's me saying to my Stargate fans, relax were two episodes in and the ratings will likely drop more and also increase as well.
As far as Im concerned as are the writers and probably the Sci-Fi channel, the season is going well and im loving the hell out of both Stargates.

I'll do BSG tomorrow if I have time and yay tomorrow is Friday!!!

ratings, sci-fi friday, stargates
