NCIS LA Ep 2x23 Brief Review, Sam and G centric

May 12, 2011 11:33

Shane Brennan said he would put SH through the emotional wringer this season last September (G, Mo, ep 2x05, Dom vs Deeks)

Callen will have a romance (well that has been going on since season one so nothing new)

Sam and G’s relationship is just in the beginning or middle of what they have planned, he will have the opportunity to play around with it from now. Note how SB gets that fans, whether they ship them or not are interested in how the relationship evolves which is a breath of fresh air. I always happy to see that people don’t care to have them shoved at other people to dispel homophobic comments about the characters. There will be women down the road but I believe they will always choose each other  first when it comes down to it, as we have seen so far.

Lived with Sam for weeks despite being noisy and keeping Sam up all the time

Spent Christmas with G going to the Lakers game and getting drunk, or G drunk anyway.:)

They spent extra time in Barbados taking a vacation while waiting to draw Tracey out.

What Sam’s fears the most is losing his partner.

And the list goes on of how these two occupy each other’s life….

A lot of what Hetty says can be taken in many ways whether you ship them or not.

Hetty says she can’t remember the last time he laughed; he hasn’t had much of a reason too this past season.  Take in G glib comment about ‘trouble in paradise’ and Sam sourly commenting about women leaving the drawers open, plus this vacation Sam doesn’t seem too thrilled about and one can infer  he is having woman issues. But it also shows, as canon has showed; ever since Mo has died; he and G haven’t been the same. G used to bug Sam for his time as much as Sam would, and that changed after Mo’s death, G’s run with his past and G not being there for him when he needed him. Now he has excluded G and G said he was sure that he would be coming along for this vacation. Not something you would say if Sam was bringing the wife or gf to patch things up.

Regardless, Hetty’s comments should be taken for both G and this suppose mystery wife or whatever that he never speaks or really spends time with.

I’m not touching the wife and kids at home thing because if that is what SB is going for, he is making Sam look not so shiny but I trust him to resolve the big mystery and secrecy surrounding Sam’s family in a somewhat plausible fashion. Well, mostly anyway….

Hetty trusts Sam to be there for Callen because times ahead are going to be tough, but at the expense of what? His vacation, which could mean quality time with the family who clearly doesn’t get to see him enough? Maybe SB is setting up Sam to make some hard choices for Callen; who needs someone that isn’t torn between being a part of G’s crazy, dangerous life and someone who expects and needs him at home when he can. I just hope they don’t end up like Sam and Frodo; where Frodo made the choice for Sam instead of having torn between his wife and kids and himself. I think that would drastically change the Sam and G dynamic, but I guess we will have to wait with Kensi to see what the story is. But the longer SB waits, the less credible the family man married with kids at home scenario becomes.

Hopefully ep 24 will give us more hints.
Once episodes 24 airs, I will write a proper review for both together.:)
Need to review the latest H50 which I loved, Nikita and SPN 6x20 when I have time....
