This post is contains some pages of my mum's surviving 1970s-era fashion-cum-patterns magazine from Japan. According to someone over at either
egl,
tokyoagogo or
fruits (I'm not sure which one, I've forgotten already 6^_^000), the title is So-En Eye. But, because my sisters and I tore off the cover - besides tearing off other pages and ruining a good deal of the other pages with ballpoint ink, as you'll see from the first page - while we were still very, very young, we'll never know. v=_=000 I'm actually amazed this magazine survived though; my mum has always told us that she used to have a huge pile somewhere, but then we began to move around a great deal. It's really sad that this is the only magazine I found rummaging through my mum's belongings when we moved more than 3 years ago.
I hope you enjoy it all the same! And, uh, I'm terribly sorry for the delay - they've been scanned in since mid-2006 (and some since 2004!), but ... between being busy and getting sick, I also got lazy. XD;
I like calling this the pre-lolita set because you can tell that these dresses and even the photography inspired the lolita street fashion movement in Japan a great deal. I also call it the bishoujo set because the style here exudes a kind of youthfulness, almost a bit like the models are little girls or young schoolgirls.
I originally put this up on
egl since it has many similarities to the gothic lolita fashion style in Japan. In particular it seems to be a vintage version of country lolita, a substyle of lolita fashion.

I'll try to scan the black-and-white pages and the gorgeous patterns (with gorgeous 1970s art) next time, but only if someone here can give tips on how to remove the staples that keep the magazine together without accidentally ruining all the pages. I hate having to scan with the staples on since the magazine's ruined enough. T^T Thank you very much!

PS how the heck do you make thumbnails using just Photobucket links? O_o I never figured that out...
