In chronological order. As always, * means I've seen it before, bold means I can't believe I haven't.
April
- Delirious (2006)
- The Jane Austen Book Club (I suspect this is better as a book. However, I'd probably feel somewhat compelled to read Austen's books - a daunting task - and then The Mysteries of Udolpho for reference for Northanger Abbey. Since Grigg did it... Anyway, the whole project sounds overwhelming, so I'll stick to the movie. I have enough books waiting to be read.)
- It Might Get Loud (Starts with Jack White making a guitar from found objects. Nice!)
- That Hamilton Woman
- Code Monkeys, Season 1
- Blacula (With Jerry, of course.)
- The Thing with Two Heads (aka The Man with Two Heads or The Beast with Two Heads)
- Ransom
- The Good Student (I'm so confused! I have no idea what I'm supposed to have taken away from this experience.)
- The Cake Eaters
- Catfish
- Reefer Madness (2005, the musical)
- Prom Wars
- How About You
- Red Doors
- Cartoon Noir
- Sharkboy and Lavagirl
- Novocaine
- Emma* (1996)
- In & Out (Why was I totally surprised by how this plot went? I love being surprised by a comedy!)
- Rat
- The Ten
- Kevin Smith: Too Fat for 40
- Better Off Dead*
- I Am Number Four
- On the Edge (I thought this was really well done. Cillian Murphy definitely has a niche in my head.)
- Raising Victor Vargas (It seemed like something I was supposed to see, so I did. It seemed very real and uncomfortable, so I think it falls into the category of "it was good, but I didn't like/enjoy it.")
- Christine (1983)
- My Name is Bruce
- Hachi: A Dog's Tale (Cried. Like. A. Baby.)
- Stealing Home
- Red Riding Hood (2011) (I wanted to see it because I thought it would be pretty. It was.)
- It's Kind of a Funny Story (This wasn't as upsetting as I expected. I found the psych hospital's visiting policies implausible, and I was annoyed by the doctor who butchered the Serenity prayer. Ah well.)
April highlights: Rat, I Am Number Four, On the Edge, Hachi
May
- My Effortless Brilliance (I pretty much hated this. Only laziness kept me watching through the end.)
- Wild Guitar
- The Sound of Music*
- Pride & Prejudice* (2005) (Yup, I still watch it every time it's on. I should probably read the book at some point. Perhaps before reading Pride & Prejudice & Zombies.)
- Girl, Interrupted (Very well done in some ways. How have I not seen this before?)
- Magical Mystery Tour (This probably would've been better if a) I was high and b) the quality of the recording was better. Ah well.)
- Bridesmaids (2011) (So much fun, but I wanted more Clemmie!)
- Frankie and Johnny (1966)
- The Tao of Steve
- All That Heaven Allows
- Sucker Punch
- 2007 Academy Award Nominated Short Films
- The Guild, Seasons 3* and 4
- The Towering Inferno (Couldn't help but think of 9/11 as I watched this. It's creepy to watch stuff like that now.)
- Beautiful Girls (I've been seeing bits and pieces of this for ages. It was time to just sit down and watch it.)
- The Sweet Hereafter (Wiki notes that the author said the movie was better than the book, but I don't believe it. But I'm not prepared to read the book to find out, so I'll just stick with some unresolved doubt.)
- Desk Set
- Brief Interviews with Hideous Men
- Weirdsville
- Code Monkeys, Season 2
- The Tingler
- The Fly (1958)
- There's No Business Like Show Business
- Ira and Abby
- The Man with the Screaming Brain
- Bart Got a Room
- A French Gigolo (or Cliente)
- Diggers (Mmmm, Paul Rudd...)
- Noise (2007)
- En la cama
May highlights: The Guild and Code Monkeys, Noise, The Tingler. I've been enjoying the old horror/thriller movies, but Vincent Price always makes me think of Thriller.
June
- Teeth (So awesome, but SO DISGUSTING!!! I was initially surprised to see this listed as a "thriller," but it definitely made me cringe and flinch.)
- Toe to Toe
- When in Rome (2010)
- Vampires Suck
- Get Him to the Greek
- How to Train Your Dragon
- Green Lantern
- The Pillars of the Earth
- Pickpocket
- Meet Me in St. Louis
- Colin Fitz Lives!
- Barbe Bleue (2009) (Unsettling lack of closure for one of the storylines. Argh!)
- Virgin Territory
- Transformers (2007)*
- Princess Warrior (Netflix has never heard of this one -- and that should tell you something.)
- The Air I Breathe
- Gigantic
- Barton Fink (It's possible I've seen this before, in college days, but I don't remember it, so it doesn't count.)
- Kill Your Darlings
- The Go-Getter (Always love Zooey.)
- On the Doll (This is seriously one fucked up movie.)
- Monsoon Wedding
- My Dog Skip
- Woman on Top
- The Omen (1976) (It's weird to watch a classic when I've seen so many parodies of it. I kept picturing John Belushi & Buck Henry's parody on SNL.)
June highlights: Teeth maybe? Vampires Suck was definitely fun, Gigantic (mostly because of Zooey), The Go-Getter
Books...- The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury
- Florence of Arabia by Christopher Buckley
- Cleopatra's Daughter by Michelle Moran (I made the mistake of letting this be the only book I had on me during 12 hours on trains. It was fine, but it wasn't terribly engaging and I wasn't impressed. Among its many issues: While Cleopatra is spelled with a C in the title, it is consistently spelled with a K throughout the text.)
- Dirty Sexy Politics by Meghan McCain
- Hairstyles of the Damned by Joe Meno (This had a lot of run-on sentences and I kept finding myself running out of breath as I read even though I was only reading in my head, and even though I noticed I was doing that I couldn't make myself stop and that was pretty funny. The thing is, I think the sentences were technically grammatically correct, so I don't know if they'd actually qualify as "run-on" sentences, but it felt like they were.)
- Book of Shadows by Cate Tiernan (Sweep, book 1) (Read in one evening. It reminds me a lot of Twilight, and at first I thought, "If I wanted to read Twilight, I should just read Twilight." And then I realized that Twilight sort of bores me now, because I know the books backwards and forwards and I don't know if they hold anything new for me anymore. This was new, and quick, and I enjoyed it - but it wasn't good enough to spend more time on.)
