So... how about this whole Egypt thing, huh?
I've been having one of my regular bouts of sick -- pain in joints, feverishness without fever, unbelievable tiredness bordering on narcolepsy complete with intense nightmares, one of which involved being raped by ghosts (yeah, I don't know), breathing problems, chest pain -- all of which is kinda sucktastic, and means I've not been around. Please do catch me up on anything that's been going on with you -- I tried to look back on LJ, but spoons are in short supply. I'm hoping it doesn't last too long -- it's only the beginning of the semester, but it's hard to get my strength back when it starts out like this.
Other news with me: over semester break, I finished a draft of Chapter 3 of the dissertation (the Jane Austen chapter!), so I'm now 3/5s of the way through, before revisions! Onwards to Harry Potter! I am teaching Intro to Literary Theory and a senior seminar on Milton this semester -- the latter especially is really rocking. We just read
Areopagitica, and are now embarked on Paradise Lost.
I am reading Jo Walton's
Lifelode and re-reading Julien May's Galactic Milieu series. I was really not into Lifelode in the beginning - I think it was a name issue. Like, the country where they live is called "Applekirk" and the main character's name is... Taveth? Like, someone named Sorrel or Margery might live in Applekirk, but Taveth? No. I still feel this way, but there's something nice about the story anyway, and fantasy polyamory is fun.
I probably had more to say, but can't really remember now -- brain is pretty mushy. Hope to be back in a more full time way sometime soon.
