~ I have got tix to Chekhov's
Three Sisters at the Classic Stage Company. The production stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard, among others, and I am super excited. I am really fond of Chekhov, although I perhaps prefer The Seagull to Three Sisters but still! CSC is a really great venue; the last thing I saw there was
Orlando, which despite starring David Greenspan, who keeps ruining otherwise delightful theater experiences for me with his overacting and prancing, was really good -- a Sasha who made your toes curl, and an Orlando who was delicately compelling in manner of Tilda Swinton.
~ I have a long post about *fail and a Merlin fanfic almost done... and I swear I am going to finish both today, though possibly not post till after the weekend. I have fear that no one is going to read either, though I suppose that oughtn't matter... but I wish I knew how to write in a way that was popularly appealing. I am always just taking wild stabs in the dark, and if things take off, it is entirely by accident. I hate this. Seriously, though, I do not think there is a market for my Arthur/Morgana as kids fic! (Even though it is totally background for the Merlin/Arthur, Merlin/Arthur/Gwen, Gwen/Morgana in my head!!!)
~ For Project Runway aficionados who were disappointed by the outcome of S8 (that's everyone, isn't it?), here is a picture of
Heidi Klum on the red carpet in Mondo Guerra. As the French say, permettez-moi de rire.
~ I went to a seminar given by my advisor &
José Esteban Muñoz yesterday; it was really helpful, I think, to my overall dissertation project in constructing queerness as an impulse that doesn't only have to do with being LGBTQ. I am sort of fascinated by this.
~ MISFITS. If you are not watching Misfits... why not? S2 had its first episode last night, and it was superb! Brilliantly written with superlative acting... hilarious, dark... and yet somehow with these really moving, poignant moments. If you think a group of kids bonding over burying the bodies of folk they've murdered (in sort-of self defense) with no wanky and boring angst is heartwarming, a) you and I have a lot in common, and b) you really should watch this show.
~ Yuletide! OMG. What should I sign up for??? I am totally bemused.
