some things that are cool

~ I saw the deleted scene from Return of the Jedi that was up on youtube for a nanosecond. Eeeeep! Darth Vader was all "come to the dark side, Luke, we have cookies!" while Luke FINISHES HIS LIGHTSABER. THERE WAS CANONICAL ON SCREEN LIGHTSABER CONSTRUCTION. Eeeep.

~ a baby liger with a simply enormous head.

~ magnetgirl wrote me a song...! About the Doctor! Perhaps if I ask her nicely, she will let me share it with y'all. *grin*

~ the other day, semyaza posted a link which deals with one of the eternal questions -- at least for me -- what do to about loving books, and hating their authors. This spins around the swirling vortex I laughingly refer to as my brain and its angles shift, but it never goes away. I was noodling around the internet and found this post by gnomicutterance called loving things that are broken which I thought added something important to the mix.

~ for the Buffy lovers out there, Buffy Fashion Roulette. There are so many contenders!

~ I kinda loved this discussion about the naming of Book-Boyfriends. (Equally applicable to girlfriends, but that would be less alliterative.) I immediately remembered that Draco Malfoy was originally supposed to be named Draco Spinks. Spinks. If JKR was truly serious about not wanting girls to like him, why on earth change that to Malfoy, which I'm sorry, just kinda reeks of hotness. If you, ahem, like that sort of thing. I adore thinking about character names. Lately I find it really difficult to read a book if the names are unengaging. Particularly if it's one of those Ytzdik of Plurjxr fantasy books. (And yet, of course, otherworldly fantasy doesn't really work for me either if your hero & heroine are named Bob & Mary Jones.) How d'you all like your character names? (Either making them or meeting them.)

~ You guys, I want to write some fic. But I am short on plot bunnies at the moment. Anyone feel like tossing me a prompt? Say for White Collar maybe? Or Buffy? (We're doing the Great Buffy Rewatch). Or Sherlock? Of which the canon is super ficcable, but... disappointing in SO MANY WAYS. I assume y'all have read the fabulous meta: Neoliberal Holmes, or, Everything I Know About Modern Life I Learned from Sherlock which pretty much sums it up completely. BUT ANYWAY. Prompts, yes.

I have resolved to try to get back into this here LJ swing of things. It's always easier in a list format.
