I'm Back...
You guessed it: my motherboard failed. Again. I purchased a new motherboard, one not prone to the sudden death issue my A8N-SLI Deluxe had, but encountered both apathy and software issues and thus never got it working. My parents ended up being my saving grace: I got a new computer for Christmas (with a shiny legal copy of Windows Vista)! Raven hooked it up to the Internet while I was at work today, so here I am.
I rather like Vista, despite a few oddball trivialities (such as the "administrative permission" dialouge box that opens up every bloody time you try to move, rename, delete or paste something).
Updates otherwise... SURPRISE! The house we were/are renting was foreclosed on! The owner was a complete dick for not telling us in advance. The house was auctioned on the 7th of this month, and under the advisement of a realtor and a few lawyers, we are simply waiting for someone to give us our official 30 day notice. I was so distraught over this for a while that Raven nearly strangled me. To alleviate my crushing sense of panic ("They're going to just show up and throw us out, I know it! We're going to lose everything we own!") I boxed up my most precious possessions and arranged for them to be stored at my parents house until we move into a new place. So now I am somewhat relaxed. Still irritated and out $1,400 in deposit money, but not in immediate danger of heart failure.
I still can't believe that this is the SECOND TIME IN A ROW that this has happened to us.
Further updates on me and Raven: WE may have a date before long. I can't really share anything other than that, but will let you know if we get one, and if we do, if it goes well or not.
Also in the realm of digital updates, I purchased the software DrawPlus X2, hoping that it would be a decent program. Verdict thus far is two thumbs down, however. I hated Adobe Illustrator, and this program, with the exception of the animation features, which are quite extensive and probably worth the $40, is identical to Illustrator. Boo. I should've purchased Manga Studio Debut 4. I may purchase it still, if I can't find a way to make DrawPlus work for me.
And, perhaps my biggest update yet, as if the house thing weren't big enough, I HAVE ALREADY DECIDED WHAT I WILL BE FOR HALLOWEEN IN 2010! I will be a female version of Duo Maxwell, wearing an outfit based off one of my favourite "advertisement" illustrations: SWAT black BDUs. I have it plotted out exactly, right down to the type and colour of wig and how to style it. Hell, I have all the necessary cosmetics purchased already. I think I know what'll I be for 2011, as well: female Heero Yuy, with an outfit based off his costume in Endless Waltz.
