i just watched a typical movie that my parents would pick out. it was called the way home. its a south korean film about a little city brat who goes to live w/ his mute grandma up in rural korea. its really sad how rude an awful he is, but in the end he learns respect, manners and that his grandma is not a dumb retard as he puts it. awww, happy ending. if you like movies that make a point rent it. it's kinda depressing.
my dad has been on this movies w/ meaning strike. he gets all these sad movies, like the rabbit proof fence, which is really well done. it's about aborigines in australia who are 'halfbloods' which mean they have english blood in them. so the whole movie is about these 3 girls who are snatched away from their family to be raised 'properly'. they run away and follow this fence home, like over several thousand feet across australia. its a tense movie and has a semi-tragic ending. oh well.
