what a hunk. (best trade ever amanda!)

rob and i went to rosarito. it was bbeeaauuttiiffuull. we had a much needed alone-time-sesh :::kissy kissy::: we walked into town. bought some decorations for our office at the 'dia de los muertos' store i always go to in the market place. the woman who owns the store recognized us from last time we were there (when i had brown hair, haha) she was so sweet.

my baby jeebus and stewieeee!

yours truly and halford the monster.

tuesday morning we packed up the prius, little doggies and monster then drove back into san diego to an anxiously awaiting frazier family. they were chillin' at the holiday inn <---haha. i kissed robby goodbye, he went home, i dropped off my luggage in their room and hopped in the van to head off to the san diego zoo*.

*on a side note... going to the zoo as a vegan gives me kind of a negative feeling in my gut. ive read so many [vegan] articles about what captivity does to animals and all of the horror stories about the abuse zoos commit toward animals. although, thinking on a positive note, i noticed so many animals that wouldnt exist unless man took charge and domesticated them in some way. maybe thats mother natures way of depleting populations? maybe we should take charge? maybe not? eh, who knows. the one thing that could be improved (in my opinion) is some of the habitat sizes. they have tons of leftover land behind each habitat that seems to be going to waste, im sure money is part of the issue, but im just stating the obvious.

the zoo was fun! i was so glad to get out in some open air and walk walk walk. my family consists of some amazing people. they care about each other SO much. now - my grandparents. oh my grandparents, they are just beautiful. they are pure, caring and genuinely sweet people. i wish they could be around forever, but i know that isnt possible so i am going to take advantage of the time that i have with them.

monkeys! (cousins)

we saw a billion animals. i think my favorites were the polar bears... or stinky flamingos. we saw "the panda" (dun dun dunnnnn!)... it was interesting how many people flocked to that exhibit. the u.s. has hyped the panda bear up to be such a glamorous animal- yet it was probably the 20th most endangered species there. i think some of the other animals deserve some respect! maybe its the black and white contrast on such a large mammal? i mean a majority of the people waiting in line were little kids. maybe its the mysteriousness about the bear or the asian culture that surrounds it?

twins!

i took more pictures at the zoo, but most of them came out skiwompus because of fences and movement... etc. i just liked the duck picture basically. ha.

today we went to balboa park. it was beautiful. i want to live there. my aunt said that if she were a bum she would live there by the koi pond! haha. she is rad. the best part is that they all full heartedly accept veganism and my love of the planet and choices i make to try to make a difference. they actually make most of the same choices. i guess we are all more similar that we thought?

anyway... long day tomorrow.

gonna see shamu. so cliché i know. whatevs... i will just hang in the penguin exhibit for 8 hours.

xo!
